Counting points that fall inside poligon

Any suggestion about selecting points from point topology that falls to
poligon from poligon topology?

Not sure I understand the question but have you tried the old WP (window polygon) option at the command line?

Try LIST then WP and it will let you pick a bunch of pick points (you could snap to your existing polygon end points).

I have several poligons (more than 5000) and
more than 100000 points. Some points fall into first poligon, some in second
poligon, etc.I'm using ArcView instead, but my nature od job require that i'm
using AcadMap. With ArcView 8.1 you could count point hits that falls inside
each poligon.

How about doing an overlay of the point topology
and the polygon topology.  This will create a new topology that will give
you the relationship that you are looking for.

Mmmm,

Yes, yes! I not test this yet, but I think that's
the answer. All the time I have in mind this options, and never realize
it.

Thanks Kevin!

What is resulte from overlaying point and poligon
topology? Result is point topology. I need poligon topology as
result!!! Any suggestion about it?

This type of analysis isn't really suitable for
Map.  Kevin is correct in that an overlay analysis has to be done.
The result is a point topology - but to find out how many points fall within
each polygon isn't easy.  While performing your overlay, you want to create
a new Object Data table that contains the Source (Point) ID and the Overlay
(Polygon) ID.  The result will be a point topology, but if you look at the
object data for these points it will contain the original Point ID and the ID of
the polygon that it falls within.

To speed up the calculation of finding total points
in polygons you can export the Object Data to a database and use the database
tools to find count totals for each polygon.

Good Luck,

Scott

My thinking is to generate a report that
contains each point with the associated polygon ID as a field. Then the
file can be opened in Exel and sorted and counted according to to polygon
ID.

Thanks Scott,

I was realize this proces with ArcView 8.1 few month ago, but I would like
to realize all of partial segment of this proces only with Map 5.0, O.K.
also with Access.
Lets walk throw your mail:
>> While performing your overlay, you want to create a new Object Data table

That's O.K.
>>The result will be a point topology, but if you look at the object data

O.K.
>>To speed up the calculation of finding total points in polygons you can

I'm finding count totals for each polygon!
Now, I would like to link this tabel to centroid, to coloring poligons in
view of count totals field with Thematic Wizard. Here I stopped. I do not
find way to realize this last step?

Any suggestion!?

Regards,

Milos
