Check out lock

Hi,
I'm using AutoCAD Map (in Civil3D) for connecting to SQL Server 2008 Spatial (FDO) and I noticed something strange. When I check out feature for edit, colleague of mine (who is also connected to the same database, and to same data) can also check out the same feature, before I've checked-in mine. There is no error or any notification that somebody else checked-out that same feature. This way I can check-out one feature and edit it while someone else can do the same thing at the same time.
What am I doing wrong? Is it a AutoCAD FDO problem ili SQL Server?

That's has to be managed on the sever side. There's a number of 3rd party
apps that will do it or if you search the DBA sites for SQL Server you might
find some info on it.

Thank you. I wasn't successful in finding anything about locking features. If you maybe think of some, pliz let me know.
Thank you once more.
