Base map databases

My fellow Autodesk newsgroupies:

I'm working on a project where I have to document the number and type of
parking spaces in about 100 sites spread throughout the City of Los Angeles.
I've been estimating the cost of producing this from scratch and the numbers
get scary. Not being one who likes to reinvent wheels... Where do you
suggest I look for raster or vector base map data such as aerial photos,
parcel maps, etc. for free or for a fee?

Any URL's or other suggestions?

I already have access to tax assesor map info. That shows the parcels,
including their propertly lines and right of ways. I still have to account
for parking spaces (which at a minimum will require a quick field
verification) and also show major building structure outlines.

Thanks in advance and sorry about the duplicate post in more than one
section. I believe this is reasonable considering that many who are in a
good position to give tips don't lurk in all the sections where I'm posting
this.

Regards from Los Angeles,

Emmanuel Garcia

Try the data catalog at:

http://www.ceres.ca.gov/catalog/

Jim,

I didn't find anything there, but perhaps I overlooked the right link. Do
you remember what any graphical data may be under?

On a personal note, I had noticed your name since it matches exactly that of
one of my best friends, Jim Isbell from Anaheim, CA. I told him about you
and he's interested in exchanging notes to see if you might be relatives.
You can reach him at jimquantic@aol.com

I also know about another Isbell family through swimming. I believe the
swimmer's name is Nate Isbell, they're Ventura County. That boy is one of
the top sixteen swimmers in backstroke in the state (my son is probably in
the top 20 ).

Just try all the links, which are just different ways of searching the
catalog.
This is a METADATA CATALOG, which will just give you descriptions of data
that are available, and contact information for the keepers of the data.
I can't guide you to anything specific; you may have to try different search
methods, keywords, etc.
