AutoCad Map 3D settings issue

I believe I have a settings issue for which I am stumped- My polylines are visually appearing grey when I open just this one particular dwg. I have rechecked my layers and plot settings and all seem correct. When I click on the polyline (or any of them) they are on the correct layer and also by color layer and in the properties box - everything seems to be correct. I can draw new lines and they are the correct color - UNTIL I close and reopen the dwg and all polylines change to gray - BUT only visually - the layers still have the correct color and they will not even plot in color. Can anyone give my a suggestion as to what changed or do I just start this project over - ugghhh!!!

thanks for your help as always

Model tab or a layout tab? Look in the page setup (plot dialog) and see if
Display plot styles is checked.

I was working in model space - so what I did was go into my layout tab and the lines changed back to cyan - went back to model space and the lines stayed cyan. I then closed the dwg and reopened it again. As I was reopening the dwg - the lines were cyan but as soon as it finished opening - the lines changed to gray - I kid you not!! repeated the steps above - went to my layout tabs - lines changed to cyan -etc. I sure am stumped. I have checked the Display plot styles in the page setup and it appears as if nothing has changed and all is correct.

thanks for your help thoughts

Are there any dwg objects layers in the Display Manager?

Look at Display Manger -> Map base -> Default. Deselect the check box, save, and reopen drawing. Worked for me when I had the same problem.

Had the same issue with polylines turning grey. Tried regen, audit and purge. Removed all features but nothing worked. Eventually started a new drawing with same coordinate system and performed a query "all" and the problem did not return. However, needed to use design center to re import layout settings. I thought the problem started when creating a legend from attached features.

I had the same issue and unchecking the Default box under the Map Base in the Task Pane solved the problem immediately.  Thanks!
