ArcView to Map

I am able to import, query, and work with data from Arcview into Map 5.
My problem is the following:
I work a lot with contour data, they are 2D entities in arcview with the value of elevation in assiciated table.
I would like o know if there is any simple method to assign this elevation to the contour entities in Map, so that I could have them drawn as 3D entities.

Set up a new drawing and attach your contour
drawing. Set up a query to bring in your contours with a property alteration.
For the alteration, you want to alter the elevtion property of the contours. For
the elevation value, you will use the value from the data table of the
contours. Execute the query and your contours will be brought in at elevation.
Then do a save back to your source drawing if desired.
