I am having the same problem with connecting to 9.2. However, I have a 64-bit machine with a 32-bit virtual machine installed to run CAD. I have ArcMAP installed on my 64 bit side. Do I need to have ArcMAP installed on the 32-bit side for a connection to work?
The file ARCSDEPROVIDER.DLL comes with Autocad Map 2008 but is dated March 2007. I downloaded updated ones from http://fdo.osgeo.org/. You replace the one file with four new files. This gives you the ability to connect to SDE 9.1 and 9.2. Edsentualy it upgrades you from FDO 18.104.22.168 to 22.214.171.124. It is my understanding that the privider file checks for SDE version then calls the appriate provider91 or provider92 DLL.
Map 2009 comes with FDO 126.96.36.199 versions of these files so you should not need to do anything but add the three Arcmap files.
The PE, SDE, and SG DLLs you copy from an Arcmap 9.2 install. Autodesk cannot provide them. I think these can be used for SDE 91 and 92. I could test that again.
The OSGEO web site is criptic so I will upload these files just for fun.
Current configuration is...
ArcSDE9.2 with Land Desktop 2008
All feature classes are named correctly and i have all the right DLLs.
I can successfully connect to the database but when it loads the schema it crashes out.
We have previously had this working in 2006, 2007 and 2008 but the setup seems to have changed recently and none of them work....very annoying.
I do have some relationship classes and tables in SDE which might be an issue, will remove them when no one is here and see if that fixes it.
I was trying to connect to our ArcGIS v9.2 system using AutoCAD Map 3D 2008 and was receiving the "Unable to establish connection to provider" error. Updating the provider dll's you supplied did the trick. Thanks Eric
Has anyone been able to connect to an SDE database created using ArcSDE Direct Connect? We're using SQL Server, and I can connect using the ArcSDE Connection, but I'm only able to see the last database created. I've also tried the SQL Server Connection, but I get the "Login Failed - The specified credentials are not valid or the provider is unable to establish a connection." I'm using Map 2008, connecting to an ArcSDE 9.2 database. I've got all the correct .dlls, and our local AutoDesk reseller sent the procedure for a direct connect to Oracle, but it doesn't work for SQL Server.
Has anyone got this to work yet? I can add a new connection and I get as far as trying to connect to the version: then I get the error failed to connect "FAild to open FDO Connection", "State info list could not be retreived." and "DBMS table not found (-37). Does it have anything to do with the fact that my version is the dbo.default?
I'm using AutoCAD Map 3D 2009. I have access to all tables through Arcmap.
