ArcGIS for Autocad Geometry server ...question

For anyone who is a wizard in this:

I have Civil 3D-2008 SP1

I have loaded the ArcGIS for Autocad (build 200) map server onto the system.

ESRI 9.3 loded.

The problem is that the service drops maps to 0,0,0 in every .dwg each time.

I have been told it has something to do with "geometry service" through Arc Catalog. I have not been able to figure this one out, and our IT guy says i have the entire suite on the computer for ESRI.

I have tried the ESRI team, but to no avail.

Does anyone have any idea as to what, why, how I can work with this?

Uninstall and forget about it. Use FDO and data
connect.

You probably need to define the coordinate system of your drawing. Both your drawing and the map service need to have a defined coordinate system. First, download and install the newest version of ArcGIS for AutoCAD. Open your drawing and define it in the proper coordinate system. Then connect to the map service. If you have done this right it will line up properly. The ArcGIS for AutoCAD Help should be pretty useful for you. See attached for a screenshot of this in action. Notice the drawing and map service have 2 different coordinate systems.

After pulling my hair out and making myself bald, I discovered two things.

One: First the coordinate system must be defined for the drawing and a shapefile must be loaded. THEN define the Arcview coordinate system and then load the imagery.

Two: The IT people loaded in a large number of scripts into A-Cad for the entire company that prohibited certian actions. These scripts were interfiering with the coordinate systems in Map. After the scripts were either unloaded or changed, the problem stopped.

What FDO Providers have good base maps? I can't find any that are very good, if at all.
