Don't let the "3D" in the name Map3D confuse you.
What are you doing or wanting the application to do?
Also don't get confused by Centroids. AutoCAD can defiantly determine centroids with a Z component. But for that you need a Region of a 3D entity. Also those centroids are not determined in the same manor as Map or other GIS software determines centroids.
When Map computes a parcel centroid, it basically finds the 2D geometric center of a bounding box. With this type of centroid it is possible to have the centroid outside of the parcel. You'll see that in a parcel that is somewhat crescent shaped.. You can think of a 3D centroid as the center of mass.
If you want to see the difference. Create a strange shaped polyline. Make a copy. Turn one in to a parcel and the other in to a Region. Get the centroid of the parcel. List the region and it will give the centroid. Compare them.
As Murph said. Let us know what you're aiming for.
