Structure Center of Gravity and Weight

    Hi.

    We are running MEP2012 + Navisworks2012

We have several constructs (model files) with many solids, Walls, Beams etc. Please note: Various materials and densitys.

?? What would be the easiest way to achieve the total weight and center of gravity for one construct (It´s part of a house)?

We also assemble these constructs into a complete coordination model (the whole house).  The same question for that.

It would be OK to use more programs and convert to them. I just don´t know where to start to get the info i need in an easy, and accurate way.

    Please advise!

    Perhaps I wasn´t clear enough?

    The question is:

What tool(s) and/or procedure should I use to get the wheight and center of gravity from a complex MEP-model consisting of many part of various materials?

The massprop command doesn´t work on anything but solids.

The workflow through property sets and tables cannot be trusted to be accurate enough (slant cut beams etc). Besides, it´s FAR too labour intensive.

I need something that will convert a MEP-model into pure solids with volume AND density and then calulates the wheight and COG. Nothing more. With a minimum of  manual input.

Please help. Any hint be greatly appreciated.

It probably doesnt exist.  But if you would like to convert all mep objects to solids use the CONVERTTO3DSOLIDS command.  You will lose any information that is attached to the part when running this command.  The part just becomes a basic dumb solid.

    Thank´s for that!

Works very well on all MEP-objects as far as I can see, and with little input.

Now I can make a correct export to Inventor, or something alse, and then add density to the parts.
