    Hello

i have a problem when i draw "pipes" on Autocad MEP 2013

am doing A/C works on (chiller and ducted)

today i was trying to do my first work with piping works, well i had a problem of the pipes, when i draw pipes it came as  "one line" , but the fetting are shown normally with big size

when i use the TOP view, the problem appears, when i turn the drawing as 3D drawing, and when i make it even on "buttom:, it works

i attached a photo of the problem and how it also shown on 3D

how can i fix this on the TOP view

    thanks in advance :smileyhappy:

The subject line says that MvParts are not showing in a top view but the description talks about pipes.  I believe from the picture that your problem is that the pipes are not showing in a top view or more correctly a plan view.  I can tell that it is a plan view because in actuality the pipes are showing they are just single line.  This means that the system definition is controlling the display of the pipe depending on its size.

You can easily fix this by going into the style manager (type STYLEMANAGER) at the command line and expand Piping and then System Definitions. Select the system definition of the piping in your model and on the right hand side select the Single Line Graphics Tab.  From here you can uncheck both options or leave them checked and set the size break.  I usually draw any pipe 2" and under as single line in the hvac world so I would uncheck the top box and leave the bottom box checked and set the size to be 2".

You can read all about it in the help file by searching for Single Line Graphics.

TIP:  This should only happen in the MEP Design Display Representation.  If you swith to MEP Basic 2-Line it will force it into 2 Line Display.

    Thanks for replying

i've done what you said, but nothing happend

the same problem, but i done another thing to "at least" leep my work going

i opened a new file, and choose a template,

and then made sure on page setup the page is on MM size not inches,

    copied and paste the drawing...

and it worked when i created a pipe

although when making an elbow it doesn't give me the box where i choose the parts from

If the steps that I mentioned above are now working then the drawing that you have started with has been modified from the out of the box version.  Switching to MEP Basic 2 Line will force ALL piping into a 2 line display representation.  Additionally if you uncheck both boxes in the Single Line Display tab in the system definition then the pipe will also be displayed as 2 Line.

You can start with the basic out of the box template to verify this.

The Templates can be found at C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\MEP 2013\enu\Template

and the Imperial Template is named : Aecb Model (US Imperial Ctb).dwt

and the Metric Template is named: Aecb Model (US Metric Ctb).dwt

If you start with either one of these two templates then it should work correctly.

If you post the drawing that you are working with then we should be able to figure out what is wrong with it.

It probably worked when you copied and pasted your drawing into the other one because the new template had the settings setup correctly.

    Thanks Keith for your support

exactly, i used Aecb Model (US Metric Ctb).dwt , then copied and paste the drawing in it

but now the problem is when i want to make an elbow (duct or pipe) it is not giving me the

choose a part box, is it possible to make it appear again ?

    regards

This is because the elbow to use is set in the routing preference if you wish to use a different elbow then switch routing preferences or go into the style manager and modify the routing preference you are using.
