Does anybody know how to protect self created catalogue contests to enable selling them? Already done something like that?

    Thanks for any hint!

In order to do this you are going to have to learn how to customize Autocad MEP using the .net language or arx.  You will need to create a storage medium for the information inside the xml and load the information at run time.  You can store the information in a database or the quick and dirty method is to just encrypt the xml files and let your dll read the information and load the part into autocad.  Their are several classes at autodesk university that show how to programatically load a catalog based part into memory.  It is up to you to figure out how to store the information inside a database or how to encrypt the xml file and then read it into memory.  If you are a programmer this is all elementary stuff.

As far as I am aware, there are no methods to secure the out of the box content with custom programming.

    Check this video out

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mfCcjGHEuQ

It showcases on how engineering companies use "Information Rights Management" to control the misuse and prevent leakage of confidential cad drawings.

The technology works even after the drawings have been distributed to external resources..Most large engineering companies in India already have adopted the technology

    Cheers
