MEP 2013 - Multiple Layer Keys

Hello, all.

We're transitioning from AutoCAD 2011 to MEP 2013 and trying to incorporate our company standards across mechanical, plumbing and especially electrical.  My question today is:

Is it possible to use multiple layer keys on the same project?

The intent is that the electrical and mechanical departments can set up their own layer keys at the same time, working on separate files, and then attach those separate layer keys to projects going forward.  If this is doable, are there certain procedures which must be followed so everything works?

Thanks!

Layer keys are file specific.  You will just have to have a seperate template for each discipline that has the layer keys set up the way you want it.

All three disciplines should edit one layer key style in one file.  Then distribute that file.  It is not easy (border impossible) to combine keys into one after the fact.  My thought would be to let one discipline edit the key in a file, then pass on to the next discipline to edit their portion.

Hope this helps,

Joshua

Thanks, Joshua.  We were hoping to work on the layer keys separately at first, but in the grand scheme of things editing the same key uses less time than other aspects of the standards setup.
