The elevation of the pipe is higher than the unistrut, but when I go to print the unistrut weaves throught the pipe. I want the unistrut not to show when the pipe crosses it.

how did you make the hangers? in order for it to 'behave' in MEP you need to make it an MvPart and it will "hide behind MEP objects

Unfortunately, Autocad MEP doesnt break structural items (including hanger objects) when shown below ductwork or piping. As the previous poster mentioned, you will have to create MvPart trapeze hangers to get this effect.
