    CROSS HAIRS DISAPPEAR

When in 3D using visual styles my cross hairs disappear.  The only way to get them back is to exit the drawing and re-open it.

Additionally, when in 3D my dynamic input, pointer input, dimension input, etc. freeze in my window.  I can work, but the little windows are frozen in the spot they last were and when new ones appear during a command, the new ones get hidden behind the "frozen ones".  I am thinking this is a bad video card for both issues.  Anyone?????

To resolve your support request, we need additional information from you.

We need your system NFO file.  For the NFO File directions, enter Solution ID: TS1057804 into the search bar on Autodesk.com

For the Tuner Log file, type 3DCONFIG at the command line.  Click the Tuner Log button, then Save the log as a text file.

It may help to have a sample of your file(s).

It's always helpful to see what you are experiencing,  the behavior, and where to look for this issue.  There is a free video recorder called www.jingproject.com.  Please make us a video of the issue.  Jing allows you to upload the video to a website called www.Screencast.com, for free.  Jing places a link to the video onto your computers clipboard.  Simply paste that link into a reply to this post and we can then watch it from here.

    3d crosshairs

02-16-2012 08:53 AM in reply to: Kayrondad

I am finding it hard to believe that I am the only one with this issue, and even harder to believe is that someone has yet to find a work around.

Using MEP 2012, computer is a Toshiba Qosmio X505 Q880 with dual quad core Intel Core i7 CPU, Q720 @1.6 GHz, 8 GB ram, 64 bit MS Windows 7 Pro, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 360M graphics card.

I am in a drawing that is over 8 MB and when I go to 3d and use any visual style (such as "realistic" and begin assessing collissions, runs, etc., my crosshairs disappear.  Some times I can get them back by reverting to not having a visual style then re-initiate the previous visual style, but before long I lose the crosshairs again.

More often I need to close the drawing and reopen it and begin again.

This is very frustrating and I need it to go away.  Anyone got some insiders.

And before anyone tells me to update my graphics card driver, did that.  I also reverted to previous versions.  None of this helped.

File is too large to try and attach or send.  I also cannot record the process because it does not happen on command and I honestly do not have the patience to make a video of the process.

    Attached are the other files.

(Please change the .dwg extension to .nfo)

I have found your proiblem.  You have Windows 7 64-bit with an Nvidia GeForce GTS 360M video card.

The card and driver is not Autodesk certified.  See:  http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/cert?siteID=123112&id=16391880&results=1&product_group=3&suite_...

This same link can help you to find a certified card that interacts with CAD with a minimal of graphic issues.

Perhaps someday Autodesk will be able to make its products work with Windows-compatible graphics cards that don't cost more than the computer.  Until then, when we've had the same problem it's been an issue with the drawing database and running Recover on the file has fixed it.
