I have created a new drawing template file will my custom piping system definitions and associated layers / colors. When I begin drawings however, all piping is put on the standard layer. What am I doing wrong?

Did you start your custom template from the MEP default template "Aecb Model (US Imperial CTB).dwt?"

The issue is because your layer key styles do not have the system layer. In the style manager for layers go to the layer key styles and add the system layers used for each system definition. They must match the system layer name exactly.

No - I created my template from an existing drawing. The layers I have named in the piping system definitions do match the layers that I have listed in my system layers for said drawings. Still all piping is drawn as standard.
