Wish- clarification of fees

I wish the whole subscription issue clarified. I recieved a cryptic letter

announcing an almost doubling of my ADT 3.3 subscription fee and some vague

mention of a Building Systems. Called my local rep. He'd not seen the

letter (I faxed him a copy). He wasn't sure what to make of it either.

I've also searched the Autodesk web site and not found a single, clear,

concise discription of how the ADT is part or not part of the Building

Systems, or how the extra fee is going to bring value to my subscription,

short of paying extra when upgrade time comes around.

Hi 3D -

I'm really not as up to date as I should be on the subscriptions, but I'll
make sure that someone who knows more about it than me sees this post. As to
the question is ADT part or not part of Building systems, you can go to
www.autodesk.com/buildingsystems click on the Questions and Answers link and
then the link for question 3.

So that you don't have to do that, part of the text is pasted here...

3. Do I need Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.3 to run Autodesk Building
Systems?
No. Autodesk® Architectural Desktop is an integral part of Autodesk Building
Systems... (snip)

So if you have building system, you do not need a separate license of ADT.
Your building system license includes ADT.

Does that help to answer your question?

Sort of...another way to ask the question would be does my ADT become a ABS
at some point?

Hi 3D!

As you already know, Building Systems 3 is a standalone product that does
not require ADT. It includes all the functionality of Autodesk
Architectural Desktop 3.3, all of the former Autodesk Building Mechanical
(improved), all of the former Autodesk Building Electrical (improved) and
all of what might have been named Autodesk Building Plumbing.

Now, the potentially confusing part:

If you purchased one seat of ABM 2 and one seat of ABE 2 and installed it on
one seat of ADT, and, your building systems related subscriptions were
current at the time of the ABS 3 release, you will receive two seats of ABS
3 (one for ABE, one for ABM) and your license for the one seat of ADT will
still be valid. The two seats of ABS are subject to the subscription
agreements you entered into for ABM/ABE. The lone seat of ADT is subject to
any subscription agreement you may have entered specific to that stand alone
seat of ADT (subscriptions for ADT are optional).

The copy of ADT you purchased to use with ABM/ABE will not be upgraded to
ABS 3. It remains a seat of ADT - an extra seat.

I hope this clarifies some!

I'm still confused.

This is what I currently understand the situation to be:

1) ADT (plain vanilla) stays ADT...doesn't become ABS at all.
2) ABS is ADT on steroids, with the building systems included
3) My subscription fee for ADT gets almost doubled, and all I really get
for it is the opportunity to change it to a Revit seat and a copy of
Architectural Studio (which is worthless to me). (How does Revit play into
the ABS system?)
4) To turn my ADT into ABS, I'll probably have to pay some other fee,
assuming that the upgrade would be worth it.

Ok, so if you have ADT 3.3 now and want to "upgrade" install that to ABS (ie
"trade in" the ADT) is that still an option or do you have to buy new?
