It would be nice to have the ability to toggle
sticky move on or off.

What is sticky move?

When a person stretches their pipe using the grips,
it pulls everything connected to it along with what you stretch.  It is a
neat little thing but some times I don't want everything to drag along with
it.

That's what happens when you spill hot coffee on yourself....

Ok Bad one...

Prior to 2004 maybe 2005 or 6??, when you grabbed a duct run and moved
it by the grip at the center, the duct would move and detach from any
elbows, tee's, branches, etc. They would be left behind. Same went for
equipment; grip move the equipment and the duct or pipe was left behind.
With the advent of sticky-move, when you grip move a duct or part, it
moves the attached duct or part with it down to the next elbow or tee,
and stretches or slims down whatever branches to get expected
results...Ie. It doesn't move the whole system. If you raise a duct main
in elevation, all branches raise/stretch with it leaving the diffusers
at their current elevation. If you don't want sticky move, then I
believe you can select an individual duct segment and use the move command.

Yes you can use the move command but then that
moves the whole line, what if we just want to stretch a line and not have
everything move along with it?  Putting a toggle in the sticky move
shouldn't be that difficult, maybe just holding down ctr button or something
like that.  It is a pain to have to move, stretch, jump and skip to get
what I want when I stretch something.  Just a wish.

It's a good wish, we'll add it to our list of wishlist items.

Hi Mike,

You can use the Ctrl button to toggle between
different options in sticky move. The options you have are usually:

- Maintain connection without moving
mvparts

- Maintain connection and move mvparts if
necessary

- Break connection

When hovering over the grip you will see a tooltip
with the different available options for the grip. When you have clicked the
grip you use Ctrl to cycle between the different options.

Is that what you are looking for?

Hi,

That helps, I'll just have to remember how
many times I must hit ctr so as not to have to keep watch on it, that part of it
is a pain.  It would be nice to have the option as a variable to turn off
the sticky move.  I think being able to turn it off would save a lot of
time going through ctr and may prevent other problems, one being the issue of
drawing sloped piping mentioned in a different newsgroup
thread.

Thanks,

Mike

Personally, I like the Ctrl options for sticy move. But I see your point. Kind of like a Osnap toggle, or an Ortho Toggle. Pherhaps I would like to see something like that. Better yet, I would like to see a way to customize what appears in those toggle buttons. So a user could pick and choose which of those toggle buttons to display.

Maybe that belongs in a different thread.

You can select different grips by pressing shift then selecting the grips you want to stretch
