Proper implementation of typing to find or goto list items

When I type P R O in windows explorer I goto folder "PROgram files"

When I type P R O in layer manager or anywhere else in AutoCAD I would goto

Pears > Radish > Oranges (for example)

Please don't do it like this any more.


Now if you want to be clever then I could choose between find or filter
behaviour. Also I would have the option to find my search term anywhere
within a layer name or at the begining. Copy the feature implementation
exactly as Pocket Informant software which is a PIM application on windows
based mobile devices.

This would greatly improve usability for me. Thanks

This type of feature should work in the ABS library of parts

I simply cannot find things fast enough. I want all the parts fully indexed
for a fast almost instant filter/search. From the very top level of all
catalogues down to the individually sizes... the library interface should be
more like the desktop search applications from MSN, Google, Yahoo and
others. Vista I believe will have good search engine... and so should
AutoCAD.

Less manual and more magika... please.
