I wonder what Autodesk sells in UK.
In my copy I do have both SECT and SECTHIDE keys and both define same layer
A-sect.
When highlighting and right-clicking the x-section, I do not have any
"linework" item in the pop menu.
Still I would appreciate if anybody from Autodesk would bother to reply to
my original post about x-referencing sheets with x-sections into final
drawing and about color change.

if you wish to have multiple layers inside your section reflecting the plan
you need to add layer keys for these items and update the section style?!?
Anyway, after you have made your section you can modify the entities inside
the section without exploding it using the following method, not as good as
we would all want but I guess in ABS2005 we may get something better...

determine the display of every section that you generate, or you can assign
linework to display components that you have defined. For information about
adding custom display components, see Adding a Display Component to a 2D
Section Style . After you assign linework to display components, you can
change the display properties (visibility, color, layer, lineweight,
linetype, and linetype scale) to change the display of lines.
