saving 2012 drawing in 2013 problem

I have saved numerous drawings originaly created with MEP 2012 to MEP 2013. Upon reopening and trying to save the drawing again, I get an error dialog titled 'Saving Drawing - Version Conflictc"  as Acad is saving in 2010 file format, even though when opening the drawing it says it is a Acad 2013 format drawing.

How do I get the drawing to default save in ACAD 2013 format?

In 2013 the default should alredy be to save to 2013 format. Perhaps this setting was changed on your system. To check open Options, select the Open and Save tab and in the top left side there is an option for Save as: and there is a drop down to choose the format. This should be set to AutoCAD 2013 Drawing (*.dwg)

that was the problem, not sure how it changed to defalt to 2010
