When Back Saving a MEP file to 2010, MEP Display gets corrupted.

We are sharing coordination files amongst several contractos. When a file is drawn in Autocad 2010 format, but shared with a contractor using 2013 format, the contractor back saves the file to 2010. However, when this happens, the previous MEP object's display appears to get currupted and the now show up as heavy polylines.

In addtion, the display type of the converted file can no longer be changed.

Not all contractors have MEP. However this seems to happen with either Native Autocad and Autocad MEP.

Is there a solution for this? As not all contractors have the latest 2013 format software.

Thanks

D

I should also note that portions of MEP objects can no longer be pasted into the converted file as well.

It is hard to determine what is happening... it almost looks as though you have 'desplay line weights' turned on in the left hand image.

You cannot effectively save an MEP file back to an earlier format without taking some extra steps.

It depends on what is needed in the file that you send. Fully 3d, 2d only or something else.

What I would recommend is to use EXPORTTOAUTOCAD2010... if you need fully 3d... then first setup a sw iso view... then run EXPORTTOAUTOCAD2010

This will convert all of the MEP objects to 3dSolids. The resulting file will only have native autocad objects... no MEP stuff.

Then send them that file.

Take a look at help content... 'To Export a Drawing to AutoCAD'  this should help you.
