Unable to execute the tool...

Hi All!

I'm in the process of setting up ABS4 for network
use and I'm running into some issues with the tool palettes being on the
network.

I've copied the tool palettes folder to our server
and made the corresponding change in the Tool Palettes File Locations section on
the Files tab and have had no luck.

The palettes show up with the images, but when I
click on one of them, I get the following message...

Unable to execute the tool. Possible causes
are:

 - The tool is not registered
properly. Please check your installation.

 - The tool is from another application and
is incompatible with the current application.

I copied the files from the ABS4 installation
location so it must not be registered properly?!?  How do I know if its
registered properly??

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Matt,

Check the properties for the tool button and see if
the path structures are correct.  You may have a broken path
statement.  Repair and save.

When I check the properties, I get the following
message...

"The tool is not registered properly. You can
only edit the basic properties."

And it still doesn't work.

There are required files that are installed to the following location which
you cannot move (did they move perhaps?):
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk
Building Systems 2004\R16.0\enu\Support\RegisteredTools\

Chris,

 Those files haven't moved.

Any other ideas as to what's going
on??

One thing that I can think of that may
affect this is the fact that our IT Department has so thoughtfully decided to
"lock us out" of our C:\ drive.

In other words, if you go to My Computer,
the C:\ drive essentially does not exist.

Can you get your IT department to give one of the computers this is
reproducible on access to their C drives and see if that clears things up?

Thanks

I'll see what I can do, but I don't specialize in
miracles.

Wish me luck!

looking at this one sentence only...

I've copied the tool palettes folder to our server
and made the corresponding change in the Tool Palettes File Locations section on
the Files tab and have had no luck.

makes me shudder - look in the
autodesk.aec.arch-desktop.content newsgroup for a post 9/21 - this is a general
brain noise doc on catalogs...

then I get to the part where the IT has locked out
the C-drive - EeeeeK!!!!

I have just run into the same problem. I have been happily using the section tool for some time now. I have just opened a drawing, attempted to create a section and I get the 'Unable to execute tool' message.

I have looked in the 'Registered Tools' folder and found it to be completely empty. What should be in there and where would the contents have disappeared to between drawing sessions?????
