Hi Jason.
I'm using area function to help with ventilation calculations. After seting
areas, I create a schedule containing area number, name, number of square
feet and number of occupants. Then I transfer it to Excel. Identification of
the areas is an issue. I don't know how to make the area number to display,
nor I found in the design center any area tags. Could you advise on that,
please?
Another matter are equipment tags. Normally, I insert mv-part then I'm
defining property set, the I'm using equipment tag to idenify it. I couldn't
do, however a simple thing like automatic displaying equipment mark in the
equipment tag. After inserting the tag I have to edit it's properties and
manually change "000" to desired mark. Am I getting it wrong or right?
Last thing, the equipment tag format "000" makes possible to enter
conveniently any number from 001 to 999, however, (I'm sure I'm not speaking
only for myself) we would like to have possibility to enter a mark like
RTU-12, which has better meaning than for example 137, but it will extend
beyond oval line.
Any idea how to circumvent the matter? Subject of creating tags and
automating entries is somehow extraordinarily brief in the manuals and
guides and does not exhaust the matter.
Thanks,
sp

Hi Slawomir -

There are some tags in design center, but they are located in the Metric
DACH content, and they are configured to work with display representations
that are not included in the building systems templates.

I've re-posted an old tag example that I did sometime last summer to
customer files. It's called ABS Tagging Example. This particular paper goes
over creating a tag for a schematic symbol, but I think that it covers all
of the items you'll need to create a new area tag.

If you want to be prompted to fill out the MvPart tag information as tags
are added you can go to Options -> AEC Content and put a check mark in the
Display Edit Schedule Data Dialog During Tag Insertion.

If you want to re-size the oval, you'll follow the same general procedure as
for creating the tag, but all you'll need to do is modify the source block.

If I don't provide enough info in the document you can also check out the
"Creating Custom Automatic Schedule Tags" brain dump by Matt Dillon at
http://www.stardsign.com/BrainDumps/Creating_Custom_Automatic_Schedule_Tags.
htm (watch for wrapping).

Hi Jason. Thanks a lot. Will try this one.
In meantime I have another question from different department.
Beginning of a job. I have the drawing named 2102h0.dwg which is going to be
my model. For first shot I've created some areas and I've used object tags
(better this than nothing :-). The drawing x-references another drawing
E8700.dwg, which is an architectural background. Actually I've created whole
bunch of them (one for each floor), but this one (2102h0) gives me headache,
although is the simplest one. Try to open it by clicking on it in the file
explorer and it will end up with Unhandled Access Violation. Try to open
Autocad first and then open up the same drawing (File ==>Open) and
everything is o.k. Recovery and audit of both drawings did not help.
I am posting both drawing files under same subject in the customer files
area along with .err and .dmp files. Would you see what's going on? I don't
feel comfortable when I think that the matters may become worse when two
months down the road I will be close to the end and then I may have
unrecoverable crash.
Thanks

Hi Slawomir -

I can reproduce you double click behavior. Still checking to try and figure
out what the issue is.
