Section Views with Xrefs

I have a model that I have created and it includes other models that are xrefed in.  When I create a section view it will only show hidden lines from objects in the main model.  Any objects in an xref do not show as hidden lines.  Is there a setting that I can use to allow xref's to show hidden lines?

No one has ever tried to create a section with xrefs before?

Keith,

Does the xref match the same display as in the host?  How about the orientation?  It's not in Plan where objects are flattened?

Thanks for replying Josh,

I have been playing around with this for several days now.  All of my drawings are in the exact same state and have identical display representations.  I decided to create a new drawing with just two pieces of duct and xref it into a new drawing and see what i got.  Lo and behold the ductwork showed the hidden duct correctly.  I then played around with the duct, moved it around, rotated it so it was up and down vs left and right and then saved the dwg and reloaded it in my host drawing and bam, the ductwork didnt display hidden lines correctly.  So I figured that somehow some bad information is getting into the drawing.

I then went back to my original host drawing and deleted it and started a new one and inserted all of the xrefs again.  Then when i created the sections the ducts displayed the hidden lines correctly.  This leads me to believe that something is getting broken somewhere but I just don't know where.  All of the display settings were identical in all drawings along with view direction and ucs's.  Plus i witnessed it happening with a brand new set of drawings.

Thanks again for replying.  The problem is not fixed but at least I have an answer/workaround to get the drawings out of the door.

I wonder how the new 2013 Progressive Update feature affects this.  Try turning it off:  SETENABLEPROGRESSIVEUPDATE = 0.

Have you tried it in 2013?  I'm curious if it goes away in 2013...

Hi Joshua,

I havent had a chance to test this in 2013 yet.  I am cranking away on another project and as soon as its done I will run some tests on this issue.
