Layer Key Override

I have set up several construct drawings. I have a duct system established called SupplyNew and I want the duct to be drawn on "M-hvac-duct-supp-n". When I click on add duct the duct is placed on the "M-hvac-duct" layer. I tried importing a style manager from a template file but nothing appears in the dialog box under "layer field" or "Override value". Is there a way I can get the duct to be drawn on layer "M-hvac-duct-supp-n" when I click on the icon on the toolbar? I dont want to have to change the layer manually.

Thanks for any help on this subject.

You will need to specify what layer standard you
want to use.  Go to the format pulldown and pick drawing setup.  Under
the layering tab, select the appropriate layer standard.  This will allow
you to specify a layer field and override values.  Instead of using
overrides, you might want to make separate key styles for each type of
duct.  It seems to be easier to manage especially when dealing with demo,
existing and new duct.  To do this, open the layer standard drawing you
specified in drawing setup.  Go to the Format pulldown, and the down to
Layer Management, and select Layer Key Styles.  I hope this
helps.

Hi, TomChop:

Please try following:

_AecbDuctSystemDef to create a new duct system and
give a name 'SupplyNew'. \ double click the new style to edit \ under
Design Rules tab, type/select 'm' for Dicipline Designator, 'hvac' for
Major, 'duct' for Minor1, 'supp' for Minor2, 'n' for Status \ OK \ close Style
Manager.

So next time when you do the ductadd, select
SupplyNew as duct system, the all ducts you placed are with layer
'M-have-duct-supp-n'.

Hope this helps.
