HIDDEN LINE BEHAVIOR

I have set up my options to show hidden lines with appropriate gaps. I saved the drawing yesterday, open it today, attempt to print and the hidden line behavior is wrong. Instead of the dashed and screened lines, everything is continuous. On duct where I have elevation transitions the hidden parts of the transitions show, but no where else on the drawing. Now, I copy a diffuser or insert another duct beneath one of the ducts from yesterday and the hidden works in just those areas. What the heck.....any help is appreciated. I am really not liking this program, i would rather go to the old school of 2D and make the lines broken.

Are the correct linetypes still assigned to the hidn layers?
Is the ltscale set correctly?
If so, try a "Regen Model" under the "View" menu.

Regen model works, but when I save the dwg and reopen it lines back to continuous and gap disappeared. The drawing can save and keep it. My MEP is 2012.
