Custom Menus

Why is it that I can't get rid of some of the menu items in ABS 3. Right
now I have two Documentation and Help menus on the top of my screen. When I
go into customize and remove one of them it only lasts until I start Autocad
again. Is there something I can do so that it will accept my menus the way
I want them.

This happens with the combination of Building Systems and ADT menus. One of
the Documentations and one of the helps is from each module, but I can't
seem to be able to get rid of one of them. Incidentally, why is the ADT
portion of the program not loaded as a defaut? I had to manually go and
start the file so I could get access to the ADT menus.

Hi Clint -

See the thread titled "Room numbers and ceiling grid" for an explanation on
how to load both sets of menus.

Or you can just use MEP Common -> Grids -> Add Ceiling Grid 😉

As for room tags (which was in the subject) you can just click on
Documentation -> Schedule Tags -> Room and Finish tags. For most tags, I
just press Ctrl-2 and then navigate to where I want in Design center, but
that's just me...

If you want the ADT menu along with the building systems menus here's the
procedure that I had to follow to get them to look correct (warning, my
machine has been through a number of install / uninstalls, so it may be
possible that I'm doing some steps that you don't need to do, or miss some
that you need to, but here's the procedure).

1. Launch Building Systems
2. Type Menuload
3. Click Browse
4. Navigate to c:\Program Files\Autodesk Building Systems 3\Support
5. In the File of Types dropdown (bottom of dialog) select Menu Template
(*.mnu)
6. Highlight the file called AECArchX.mnu and press Open
7. Click the Load Button
8. Click Yes to the AutoCAD Warning dialog.
9. Click the MenuBar tab
10. In the Menu Bar list select Documentation and click <
11. In the Menu Bar list select Desktop and click <
12. In the Menu Group dropdown select AecArchX
13. In the Menus list select Desktop
14. In the Menu Bar select Window and click Insert>>
15. In the Menus list select Documentation above Desktop and click Insert
14. In Menus select Design (above Desktop) and click Insert>>
16. In Menus select Concept and click Insert>>
17. Click the Close button

You're done.

Note, you may get two help menu's. ADT likes to keep adding it's menu
structure back to the menu bar (including the help menu), so if it bothers
you, you can remove the building systems help menu 😞
