Converting 3d to Parametric Parts

Is there any way of converting 3d objects to parametric parts?

That's the only way you can make any parts. The blocks have to use 3d shapes.

Hi Todd -

No, there is no way to convert standard 3D objects into parametric part
definitions. Once a solid is created it no longer "knows" much about itself
(create a cylinder, and then list it... I doesn't know it's radius, height,
anything, just its boundaries), so there isn't a way to "parameterize" it.

Hi Toddn -

You can make 3D blocks into MvParts using the
MvPartBuilder.  If you want MvPartBuilder to automatically create the
various view blocks, you must use AutoCAD solids to make the blocks.
Otherwise, you can make the view blocks yourself and assign them in the Blocks
& Names screen.  A third alternative would be to assign the model block
to all views.  So these new parts have all the intelligence offered by ABS
but are not parametric.  AFAIK, there is no tool in AutoCAD based
products for converting block graphics to parametric modeling ...

I hope this helps!
