Can't change tag's text style...

I've tried to change the text style of a tag, but when I attach the tag to a device (in a "clean" drawing), the text style remains as Simplex. Is there something more to it than just opeing the tag .DWG and changing the text style??

Thanks in advance!
~ Matt

Hi Matt -

The tags use the text style in the current drawing, not the ones defined in
the tag.

This can be viewed as either a feature or a bug.

Jason: Let me explain what I tried to do...

In the drawing "Light Fixture Tag 3.dwg", I created a text style called "TAGS" and double-clicked on the "A" blcok in the drawing which brought up the Enhanced Attribute Editor and clicked on the Text Options tag and changed the text style from Standard to TAGS. The "A" block updates (in the Light Fixture Tag 3.dwg just fine with the new TAGS text style), but when I attach it to a light fixture in a new drawing, it reverts back to the Standard text style. Is the text style being controlled in the MV Block "Aecb_Light_Tag" and if so, do I need to redefine that MV Block with the TAGS text style??

Please help. I'm not a big fan of the boxy TXT.SHX font.

Thanks in advance!

Matt -

Please try this...

New drawing using the building systems template. Add a device with an ID
then add the light fixture tag from design center. Note what the tag looks
like.

New drawing using the building systems template. Add a device with an ID.
Now run the style command and from the style list select Arial-Bold and
click Close. Now add the light fixture tag from design center. Note what the
tag looks like.

The tag uses the current text style defined in the current drawing, not the
one defined in the tag.

Does the "Top of Duct" and "Bottom of duct" tag tool not function like this for any particular reason? Or am I missing a setting?

Right click on the tool in the palette, click properties:
Under "Basic>>General>>Text"
change the option from "As defined by content" to "Target drawing text style" -
Click "ok" -
Set your current text style you want to use -

Try the tool again, this should take the current text style and apply it to the new tags. In ABS2006 this option applies to all tags.

Hope this helps.

Jason,

I tried your instructions, but had different results.

You had Matt open the Style dialog box and then had him open the "Style List" drop down. Did you mean the "Style Name" or "Font Name" list? When I changed the Style Name to Arial-Bold, the light fixture tag remained the same.

However, when I changed the Style Name to Standard and then changed the Font Name to Arial-Bold, there was a change.

Does this mean that the light fixture tag will always have the Style set to Standard and that the Standard style Font name will have to change? What other Tags / Labels are set to always read the Standard Style? What if they need to be different?

Thank you,

Michael
