Basics - Drawing in 3D Space

Can someone give me a tutorial for drawing lines/polylines in 3D space? I've found some tutorials, but it only explains using @X,Y,Z commands for line segments which seems cumbersome. Also, as AutoCAD 2010 seems to be a bit testy at the moment, when I type @, it immediately jumps to text near the cursor and will not actually draw anything once I've typed in my X,Y,Z coordinates, so I'm actually not able to accomplish anything in 3D space right now.

Admittedly, I'm very new to AutoCAD, so I'm guessing I'm relatively alone at such a low level with the program, but any help would be appreciated. Ultimately, I'm looking to draw paths in 3D space for PipeFitPro to fit some piping elements to.

set your view to an isometric angle. You can do this a few ways. simple way type "view" and pick one of the iso views listed.

type "3dpoly" and pick a start point, then you can either click where you want the line to go or move the cursor the direction you want to go and type in a distance.

Regular lines work too but they are not connected segments.

regular polylines are limited to 2D only.
