I created a BOM from "bomtables", selected the piping and the table is extreamly large becuase it listed each item in it's own row. Rather than one row for each type with a total quantity.
How do I adjust this so the BOM is not so large?
Try BOMTOTALS. Select and edit the table style. Hide the Qty column, and any segment length columns. Once updated, the table should collapse down to one row per diameter segment with a total length.
Hope this helps,
Joshua

I just read this post.... it is new to me... this is native AutoCAD table object... not specifically MEP. How is it reading the MEP properties?
Joshua... Can you get me to some documentation on this?
I tried Typing in BOMTOTALS and it did not reckognize the comand. What am i doing worn? I am using Autocad MEP 2012
Autocad MEP has a command in it called BOMTABLE. What it will do is read the information from the parts that you select and create a standard autocad table from it. The configuration for the table can be edited in the setup xml file. On my machine the xml file is located at C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\MEP 2013\enu\Shared. Obviously I am using MEP 2013 but you should be able to find your file using that directory structure. Once there open up the AecbBomTablesConfig.xml file and edit it to your hearts content. You are able to specifiy which property sets it should read. Prior to 2013 this was used to total up runs of pipe at different diameters. With Autocad MEP 2013's ability to do this with Schedules, BOMTABLE has lost a little bit of its appeal.
Hi Keith,
I know this is an old post, but I am trying to customize BOM table and it crashes mep16. I insert xml through " import panel / land xml " am I doing this wrong? I would like to BOM conduit with a category for system and layer.
Thank you in advance.
