overlay vs attached no difference in AutoCAD MEP 2011

If I overlay a drawing with attachments, I can see all attachments (as attach) at all levels.

Is this happening to anybody?

I am so frustrated.

Is there a fix for it?

Thank you,

Conny

It is my understanding the overlay does not work that way.

if you overlay xref in drawing 1 and then xref drawing 1 into drawing 2. It would be in drawing 2 where the xrefs would not show up.

Thanx for replay.

Yes, not suppose to work that way, but it is.

If I overlay dwg 1 into dwg 2 and if in drawing 1 are many drawings xref as attach they show up in dwg 2.

Any ideea?

Thanx

if you do not want to see the other xrefs that are in dwg 1, overlay them in dwg 1. then when you pull dwg 1 into dwg 2 the other xrefs in dwg 1 should not be visible inside dwg 2.

If i am understanding you

Thanx again!

My concern is that even if the xrefs are attached in dwg 1, if I overlay dwg 1 into dwg 2 they suppose to not show up in dwg2.

All drawings "1" which I work with are from other users / other companies and are many with many xrefs, I never use attach option. There is a problem with the softwere, I have reinstalled it 3 times, but nothing has changed.

I wonder if anybody else has the same problem and if there is a fix.

I looked into this forum and on google = nothing like this.

Thanks again.
