Solidbone model

Hi all,

One of my bone models is completely solid. What I would like to do it hollow out the bone and leave 1mm depth of material from the surface. How could I do this? Would AutoCAD MEP be the best product to achieve this?

P.S. Would some kind of shell feature be more appropriate for this task.

I have posted links below for the bone models (zipped and unzipped), as they are too large to post on the forum.

(Zipped iges) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32683816/User%20Library-Human%20Femur.zip (9.5 MB)

(iges) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32683816/User%20Library-Human%20Femur.igs (2MB)

Thanks

I would suggest just using the solids tools with AutoCAD and using the shell feature it should do what you want.  You can also take a look at Autodesk Inventor or maybe a better option would be Inventor Fusion.  Fusion has the unique ability to work with AutoCAD based solids but give you some of the editing power of Inventor at the same time.  I don't think AutoCAD MEP would be a good choice for this type of modeling again unless you just use the massing\AutoCAD solids functionality that is in it.
