Objects visible when they should not be

When I move some objects (specifically arrowheads) from a visible layer to a layer that is turned off, the arrowheads are moved to the new layer (according to their properties) but they are still visible even when their new layer is off. How is that possible and what can I do to make them go off and on with their layer visibility setting?

I found out that they were blocks and as blocks they were assigned to a layer? Is there any way to have the same block assigned to multiple layers or would I have to make copies of the block and assign each block to a different layer? Edited by: aacorley on Feb 18, 2010 8:13 AM

Typically, the elements within the block definition should be on layer 0, with their color & linetype settings set to 'byblock'. this way, they will inherit the properties of the layer they are inserted on.
