Editing Tables: Resizing cells smaller than their contained text

I am working on a table for a panel schedule. The issue I am running into is the formula that calls upon the numbers is much longer than the numbers themselves (IE: ?CircLoadA vs. 1000). This causes Autocad to create a cell larger than it needs to be.

I am looking for a way to make Autocad make these cells smaller than the formula's text requires.

Another issue I am running into is that I would like Autocad to display a grayed out cell when a number is 0, rather than just displaying 0s. Is there any way to do this?
