AutoCAD MEP 2013 Cui Menus - I'm so confused

Ok we have made 2 cui files in the past (Mech and Elec) and we really have never brought them in properly to AutoCAD as far as I'm concerned.  We are jumping from 2010 to 2013 and would like to incorporate them in to 2013 properly. It seems to me that 2013 has gotten rid of all the menus in the menubar for ribbons.

This is what we are looking to achieve:

We would like to have a full set of menus in the menubar

We would like to have our custom CUI's loaded

We would like to have a custom entry called TOOLS in the OSNAP menu for Shift Right-Click

Lastly we would like for the Workspaces to hold for each user

What is the proper way for this to happen?  We always made a custom.cuix for the main customization option and went to an MEP.cuix in the Enterprise customization option but this does not seem to work in 2013 for us.

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Rodeoboy

We no longer make menus and toolbars for AutoCAD MEP in favor of the Ribbon.  I can send you the 2010 versions that you can transfer into the CUI from the transfer tab of the CUI editor.  See attached zip file for the 2010 menus.  Workspaces have a setting to remember changes or not remember changes.  Set it to not remember changes once you have selected the desired workspace for each user.  This is good feedback, that should be posted at the feedback site.  Here's a link.

Hope this helps,

Joshua

Thanks for the reply, I now have the menus loaded and working.  However there was tweak that we did with the Shortcut menus where we places some custom "Tools" so all we had to do was Shift Right-click to access the.  We placed them under the "Object Snap Cursor Menu"  but I can't seem to get that to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Can you capture us a photo of the CUI dialog and expected result?

OK I am attaching a screen shot from a 2010 station that shows the (2) custom CUI files (Mech.cuix and Elec.cuix) loaded which give us the 4 additional menus (Mech / Plumb / Elect / Ltg Cuts).  As well as it shows the modification to the Osnap Quck launch menu for when you use Shift + Right-Click.   What it does not show is all the AutoCAD 2010 Ribbons cause we could never get them to load with the custom menus but I would like for the 2013 to allow us to use the ribbons.  So any I am attaching to PDFs hopefully they wont be to grainy.

Thanks,

Ken

Two posts above, you said "we cannot get "That" to work.""  What does "that" mean?  The shift + right-click access, or the leader tools themselves?

The Osnap menu shows up like Autodesk originally as had it, not with my Added TOOLS section.  So I am not sure where the OSNAP menu is being pulled from and where I should insert my TOOLS customization.

I have attached what my 2013 looks like.

Sincerely,

Ken

It looks like you transferred in the custom tools and added it to the Osnap menu, but did you turn it on in the workspace?

It doesn't allow me to add it to the Workspace.  I can't drag and drop nor add a checkmark in the box when the workspace customization mode is active.

Ken,

Nothing is coming to mind but if I think of something I'll not hesitate.  There is two sides to your coin, the CUI side and the customized commands side.  Either side could be preventing this from working.

I consulted with my team.  We added a sub-menu in the Osnap menu with a new tool and it's working.  You mentioned setting up 2013 as an Enterprise CUI instead of a Main CUI.  You know the Enterprise CUI's are locked, right?  Have you tried it with set as a Main CUI in 2013?

Do you have the MEP.CUI as the enterprise, or any CUI as an enterprise?  You should set the enterprise cui back to be the Main cui.  Then add the custom sub-menu to it.  Then set it back to enterprise.  See if that helps.

Thanks,

Joshua

Thanks for all the information, it seems to work now.  I have the MEP.cuix as the Enterprise file on the main server and a Custom.cuix as my main.

Now the next question is why wont it keep my screen layout as I left it?  I arranged my Toolbars in some order and turn on the menubar but when I exit and return its all back as originally laid out.

Thanks again for the help I do really appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Ken

You probably need to make the toolbar changes before setting an enterprise cui.  Once an enterprise cui is specified, it locks many items down.

Thanks for all the help, all my menus work now and the workspace is staying the same.  The workspace had to be created / saved and set equal to me in order for it to hold.

Thanks again for all the help,

Ken

why don't you load the menus you want, enter RIBBONCLOSE and set MENUBAR to (1). This will give you the format you are looking for.

AutoCAD MEP 2013
Window 7 pro 64 bit
E5440 (8 CPU) ~2.8ghZ
16GB RAM
NVIDIA QUADRO FX 3500 2270MB
