Auto Layout Broken

This is very weird, but we have a project we are working on using AutoCAD MEP 2012.  We are laying out a mechanical system with ductwork.  The autolayout has been working perfectly and all of a sudden on one of our drawings, it stopped working.  When you try to connect one duct to another at a different elevation it just extends the duct to the connector location and does not change elevations or add elbows.  The ducts are not connected.

The weird part is.....  On another computer you can open a file, start laying out duct and auto layout works perfectly.  Now you open the broken drawing and try to do auto layout and it does not work.  Then you open the same drawing where everything was working perfectly and BAM auto layout does not work in that drawing either.  Now on both computers, auto layout does not work.  We did this three times and now auto layout does not work on any of them.

To resolve this issue could you please check and clarify the following:

  • Could you check and confirm if this issue is file specific? Try it on the same PC with a new file and see if the issue is reproducible.
  • Perform a Audit / recovery of the file and see if you can recover any errors.
  • Check if the contents of the file is far away from the origin. Bring them closer to 0,0,0 and see if the issue persist.
  • If not; Copy the content of the file by using windows selection (do not use cross selection or Ctrl+A) and paste it on a new file (prefer default templates) at 0,0,0.

Check if the above steps helps recovering our file.
