points.mdb problems

I'll try and explaining this problem as clearly as possible. When I try to edit virtually anything in my drawing, i.e. scale, move, medit, etc., my LDT throws up a dialog box telling there are new points in the drawing and would like to run Check Points at this time. I kept clicking 'No' not realizing what was actually happening in the background. When I try to edit something in the drawing (doesn't matter where or how), LDT is creating copies of the points. I realized what was happening when I notice my dinky project had well over 20,000 points. Obviously, if I run Check Points, the newly created points will be added to the point database. I have audited, repaired, reinstalled, erased database and had LDT make a new one then imported the file again, Wblock-ed everything but the points into a new drawing (local) to no avail. The only way I have been able to prevent LDT from create new points is to close the database before I do any editing. While closing the database works, it makes the drawing pitifully slow. I am using a Dell 8400, 3.2 Ghz, 1 gig RAM, all service packs for XP and LDT. And just for the record, I have 2 other projects that this is starting to occur in. The best I have been able to ascertain is the problem starts if I do a nested copy (ncopy). I have been using this command for years and have never had this problem. Any suggestions?

About the only thing you left out PF, was the particular release being used
for this task?

And you might want to make sure that Points>Point Settings>Update is set in
the manner as the attached BMP.

Hey Don,

I gave that a try this morning and It hasn't done that all day. I'm kind of curious as to why checking that box stops that from happening. I have never in my career checked that box. Anyhow, thanks for the tip. BTW, I'm on 2004.

I keep mine off - as you saw - though I don't have many (if any) CPOs
inserted in this Project.

I was thinking yours might have been on, was what I was getting at.

Had another release of LDT ever been on this PC?

Or if Ghosting was applied to your PC any time in the past to get LDT onto
it, might the Ghost have been including an olde release?

To the best of my knowledge, This machine has never been Ghost'ed. I got it new from Dell shortly after starting here. The only previous release that would be on this machine is 2000. We upgraded shortly after I got this machine. And I, like you, normally keep that check box off.

Thanks again
