Typical Steve, it was an excellent post.

Well okay then. 😉

His last post seems to have been in JUN06 John:

As he was a highly useful contributor here, and hasn't had a "hand" here or
on the C3D DG, I'm wondering if his firm has gone to another app for their
firm - instead of a Desker tool?
I never cared for either the three options for Slope ranges from the Terrain
menu:
2D Solids;
3D Faces;
or Poly Faces;
...since they produce so many entities.
But hatching polylines was/is right up my alley John.

I will definitely look at Steve's routines. Where has he been anyway?
I never thought the LDT way was time consuming. Given to two surfaces, I
could get this job done in 10 minutes. Once you set up a Range, save it to a
town-specific prototype & it's ready for next time.

And thanks for reminding me of Steve Cannon's wonderful tools that go above
and beyond the LDT tools John.
His tool will produce a polyline that can then be hatched rather easily,
instead of the hours involved with LDT's myriad entities.
Please see the ReadMe inside the attached Zip file for further information
regarding the setup for the DVB file.
It's currently set for the 2004 release.

When you display the ranges that you set, the LDT commands automatically
create the shaded boundaries in the colors you choose & it will also create
a table with the color, ranges, percent of area & area.

Richard the same type of "boundaries" can be produced by using the Composite
Surface (it's the only choice for me nowadays, but I'll need to explain
later, in the interest of time), and creating the necessary Contours for the
depths you've mentioned.
Terrain>Create Contours and then specify the Composite Surface you created
the Volume Stratum for.
Don't specify Civil Contour Objects, just use the Polylines.
Once those contours/polylines are produce
d you can then erase the ones
unnecessary to Austin's directions, produce a Line that bisects the regions
you've mentioned at 1st.
Then use the Boundary command to create the closed polylines that will be
useful for getting the areas they've asked you to produce.
You can then create the Mtext entity(s) to labels those distinct areas -
square feet or acres or both.
