Thanks for the reply to my comment Dave, though of course it was only made
in jest.

Doug
if you can write the info to excel the "frequency" function will count the
info.
Don, I use this to summarize timber trespass missing trees count after the
low flying saw. Sorts the stump tally by diameter classes after I export
the data from a timber cruisng program.

thanx, I have toolpac.
I wasn't too keen on the idea of writing it out to excel and then learning
how to get
excel to sort them up for me.
well see what Terry can do.......I have high hopes.
the end result will probably need to be something like a table with sizes
across the top
and species down the axis.

Hi doug if you have point data it should be as simple as listing points. If
all you have is plain text & you have Tool pac you can make a txt file of
selected text. If not you may have some OT coming your way.
If you don't have either you are welcome to send me the file with your
instructions Tool pac can take only a few minute to out put.

just got a tree survey from another firm.
all the trees are described with the same symbol and simple text, such as
6"A (for 6" ash)
or 12"W (for 12" white oak).
how can I quickly table these out so that I can find how many 6" ashes there
are, 12"
oaks, 6" oaks, 8" pines, etc. etc.. ?
basically I need a list of each species with the number of each size
provided. there are
over a thousand trees on this plan.
assume I have no access to original point data.
looking for brilliant suggestions only 😉
