base.dcl

I am getting the following errors when launching LDC 2008:

Base.dcl - can't find file
error loading dialog control file
semantic errors in DCL file acad map.dcl
see file acad.dce for details
acfields.fdc is not found
semantic errors in DCL file ade.dcl.
see file acad.dce for details

I have found threads to fix for older versions but not for 2008. The program loaded OK the first time but not since. Is there documentation on this?
Thank you for your time.

Can I ask what type of "User" your account is setup as on this PC dfgega?

Control Panel>User Accounts will be useful for performing the
investigation/revision as needed. I've found that being a "Power User" as a
minimum most often prevents the issues you've mentioned.

And since I'm on this subject...

When LDT 2K8 was installed, was it done by someone with an "Administrator"
User account?

And now to cover a few more of these bases, was the PC's virus-scanner
disabled during the install?

And are/were there any other Land Desktop releases installed on the PC,
prior to LDT 2K8's installation?

Don,
Thank you for responding. Here is more info.

The "user" on this workstation is administrator.

The PC's virus scanner was not disabled during the install.

This PC has LDT 2006 and LDT 2007 installed.

Virus scanner was turned off and 08 was repaired. started up just fine. Restarted PC and the same problem came back with 08. Excuse my ignorance but do I have to repair 06 and 07 in the same manner prior to repairing 08?
Thank you

Both of them should have been Repaired right after 2K8 was installed dfgega.

Repair both of them prior to your next Repair of 2K8, and I would suggest
that instead of a Restart that you go through the Shutdown instead.. Again
disable the VS for both of those Repairs - just for "safeties sake".

I know I'll likely see someone mentioning that Terminate Stay Resident apps
are no longer an issue these days, but since you mentioned that the issues
came back after your Restart, I'll need further "proof" - before I change my
ways. ;0)

Don,
What I did was:
1. Turned off VS
2. Repaired LDT 2006
3. Repaired LDT 2007
4. Repaired LDT 2008
5. Opened LDT 2008 everything seemed fine
6. Turned off computer
7. Turned on computer, had to unplug and replug mouse
8. Opened LDT 2008 and back to square one with base.dcl errors.
I really do appreciate your time on this matter.
Thank you

As from your troubles with LDT 2K8, together with a few of the others I've
seen so far - John Schmidt's Deployment Problem being another recent issue -
I'm beginning to get the idea that some of the troubles that LDT 2K7
experienced last year about this time, have migrated over to LDT 2K8.

Report this problem to your reseller, since there's nothing in the Knowledge
Base (yet) to cover your issue dfgega:
http://tinyurl.com/2xswxu

Which is what that tinyurl will show you - unfortunately.

I'm hopeful that the "fix" will only require one Service Pack, this time
around.

But you never know, I'm thinking.
:-o

Don,
I contacted Autodesk and they had me delete a file from my registry and start LDT again. It has worked so far.
Thank you very much for your time on this.

So with a new release such as this that may be the place to start - rather
than the DG?

At least for the 1st couple weeks, I'm thinking.

Just so we get something to follow here, which item from the registry did
they mention to delete?
