Viewport layer settings

Is there a way to have a layer (ex. Prop_Storm) show up in one viewport as color 8, and in another viewport as color 5. The viewports are in paperspace.
Any help other than just copying the objects and putting them on 2 different layers would be greatly appreciated. thanks

loswitch works if you're dealing with different layouts, but if both VPs are
on the same layout, your copy/change solution is the only one.

Good luck

I used the loswitch link that was given, thanks. I loaded it with appload, but now I don't know how to use it. Sorry, this is somewhat new to me. thanks

Maybe a separate layout? Does the visretain switch
control layer colors in viewports?

I created a layer state for each layout and named the layer state the same as the layout. But I am getting an error mesage when I switch from layout to layout. From vba editor. it says “Compile error in hidden module: This Drawing”

The OP didn't mention using x-refs

Nathan,

The only way I know of to have the same layer have
different colors in different viewports on the same layout tab is to xref the
layer in twice, each time with a different name.  Not the best but it is a
work-around.

Thats right mostly, but these viewports are on different layout tabs.

Nathan,

In that case, I would just create a new
drawing.  I only use multiple tabs if the layers will display the same,
i.e. all storm sewer plan and profiles in one drawing, all roadway profiles in
another, all the water layouts in another. etc.

If you are trying to change the color so it plots differently in different layouts, so can create a new .ctb and have color 8 plot like color 5.
