I'd like to mention that I am a Help Desk Tech and not an AutoDesk user so
please bear with me if I sound a bit "clueless". 🙂
I recently upgraded several machines which were running Land Desktop 2002
to 2004, and encountered a couple of problems after. The users all created dwg
files using plot styles that appear as .ctb while they were using 2002.
However after the upgrade, they can no longer see the ctb plot styles when
they try to plot a new drawing... only stb. I did copy the ctb files from the
2002 folder into the appropriate Plot Styles folder in 2004 but it doesn't
appear to show up. Is there a way to import the ctb file? Or force the plot
feature to look at ctb and stb plot styles?
Could this also be related to the dwg file properties itself?
Thanks.

It appears to me
that your default drawing template is using a style based plot table. You can
check by going to your Autocad options and selecting the plotting tab. You
will see that you can choose to use color dependent or named plot styles.
Toggle to Color dependent if you wish to use color based styles. Also make
sure the users are not using a drawing template that it based on named plot
styles when they start a blank dwg.
It is important to know that you cannot switch
between plot styles without a conversion process. Thus if a drawing is created
using named styles, you will not see any color based styles in your listing of
available styles within that drawing.

for all of your help. Does the user have to do this command "every time" he
creates a new drawing, or can the defaults be set to color based rather then
style based? Right now it appears every time you do a New drawing, only stb
plot styles show.
