Text styles and layers

OK.. this will sound oddly like a standards problem but here goes.

LDT creates many typical layers as a result of doing certain design tasks
(ie-pbase, pvgrid, etc for profiles). Add in the prefix of the alignemnent
name for good housekeeping and then run a macro / script to adjust the
standard color of white and continuouse to whatever i desire. That all
works great. But my dilemna is with text that is automatically created.

More times than not, the correct style is not current. This can easily be
man handled by selecting the text on the layer and changing the style in the
properties box. Well, i would like to go one step further. When i run the
script / macro for setting layer color, linetype linewieght, etc, i'd also
like to force a given text style to a given layer. Does anyone have any
idea how to go about doing this programatically?

Currently, i am setup with a macro button that calls the script setting the
layer properties. I'd love to include this text style functionality within
the script if possible or in the macro button itself.

Thanks ahead of time for any responses....

Hi Kevin,

A very simple approach would be to setup a toolbar with a command to create
a layer and also set the text style.

Layers as such do not have a text style property, and hence without
assigning reactors to set the text style when a layer is set current (a
fairly complex process) you have to rely on the user. Or the simple tool
above.

Thanks for your response. I guess what I'm thinking is similar to what is
happening with Civil3D and what has happened to contours. When the contours
are created, they have a certain layer, color, style, etc. that they are
created with. Currently, profiles are just plain vanilla white & continuous
and whatever the current style happens to be.

Just trying to bid time until they get 3D as a full release...
