Rubber Sheet

Down and dirty, how do you rubber sheet a image that is attached to the AutoCAD dwg?
It's been a couple of years, and after reading the help, which made it sound like I was doing it right, the outcome was not desirable.
Pick first point, i pick point on image I want moved or stretched to the new point (second point) point of intersection of the two lines that create the corner of the lot.
I do this to all four corners even though one corner I already have lined up and when finished none of the four corners lineup. Even if i realign the original corner the other 3 still do not align.
Simple, just cannot get it to work.

Hey gcboshers;

I've always used ALIGN to do what you're discussing, and only used 2 common
points between the Image and the dwg's Linework.

Sometimes it takes a couple of tries, but other times the 1st attempt is
successful "enough" due to the Image's "scale".

Okay that took care of 2 corners how does this work for the other two corners?

I'm assuming you are using Raster Design. When I rubbersheet I always anchor
the two known points that I matched the image too and then I anchor all 4
corners of the image. After the anchors are set I will define the stretch
points. The anchors at the four comers really help.

Anchor the two known points???? how do you anchor something like a point?
How do you set an anchor?
I have drawn the property boundaries by the legal description, so i have the property lines laid out. I have had the only survey scanned and using image brought it into the survey base file. Initially I moved the scan to fit the upper right hand property point. The other three will not match even with a rotation. The other three points will need to be stretched to get them to match the coordinating points of the property outline. Have i confused you? I am using LDD which has 'Maps' rubber sheet capabilities.

Okay GC, I do not do this with Map. Raster Design has one command that will
match the image (distorting x and y coords) to two known points (property
corners typically). After we get the image matched with the two points, we
then use the rubbersheet command it to get a better match.

With the Map command, I would still try to fit the image with two points
first (located at the projects limits) after I had the image roughly fit, I
would then try to get a better match.

The Map Rubbersheet command does not give you an option to "Anchor" In this
case, you would use the same point for Base and Reference.

Don't worry about confusing me. I don't need any help with that...

No John was assuming you have Raster Design involved. Go back and read his
1st sentence again

Since you've indicated the method you're using maybe it would be best to see
how ADERSHEET has changed for whichever version of Map you're using?

And BTW, it always helps those whom you wish to receive Help from, if they
can know early-on which version of ACAD you're working with. Hence my
"signature block contents".

Food for thought.

Thanks GC - I had this feeling it was a 2Ki issue all along for some reason.

Did you also look up Help on Adersheet, or whichever command you use to do
this?

I looked up 'Rubber Sheet' and in the help it had "ADERSHEET (Rubber Sheet command)" so I felt that pretty much covered it. It all sounds so simple and when that happens usually it is there is just one or two little things you have to make sure you do just right or it doesn't work the way you want it to. I'm looking for that simple thing I'm overlooking or not doing right.

Do you get any errors after running the command? In RD there have been
errors with some images not being able to scale x and y independently. I
think this was with 2005.

You said the fourth corner was already in the correct position. This would
be on of the "anchor" points I was talking about. Did you define this
intersection as both source & destination?

I brought the image into the dwg, aligned the upper right hand corner as the common point of dwg and image. Then tried to rubber sheet the image. First time I tried to rubber sheet the other three corners, leaving the upper right corner as it was. The result did not align the three corners, but did not move the upper right corner. The second rubbersheet I aligned the upper right corner as the same point (point 1a and point 1b) then did the other three corners, the result was it moved the upper right corner and did not align the other three either.
I did not get any errors in either circumstance.

Maybe someone in the Map NG will be more familiar with this command.

Sorry I couldn't help.

If you happen to come back here today, I wondering if this application is in
need of a Repair. If you have already done that recently, you can probably
ignore the rest of this.

It's been awhile since I've had experience with 2Ki so I checked on a PC we
have here, to make sure that I wouldn't be leading you to the wrong place.

Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs;
Select LDT 2000i;
Select Change;
Select Reinstall;
On the next Dialog Box you'll see Repair;
Select that and be ready with the CD you installed from, to supply it when
asked for it.

AH! the old repair what doesn't work ideology!
This is a good thought, It has been a couple of months since I've done this.
I'll give that a shot, I believe that you can also arrive at the repair process by just inserting the program disk, just for thought.
Thank you. This I will do.

Don't know if this is the same for you, or others, but with my computer running XPPro 32bit, LDD 2000i is not registered in the "Add remove Programs" in the Control Panel. The install, uninstall, repair is done only with the Program Disks.
Just a thought.

Thanks, and that's the same Add/Remove Programs as I get also (see below).

I had forgotten which release you said you had, that was giving you these
issues.

I only started suggesting Control Panel within the last 18-24 months or so.
Previous to that it was always the CD for me also.
