Labels and Leaders in LDD4

I have two questions, and I hope I'm not just being really dense here. My main issue is that I would like to have leaders created automatically when I insert and move labels. I understand that there is an 'automatic leader' setting for point marker text, which consequently does not appear to be working either, but what I would really like to be able to do is to label all my topo with the full descriptions and then have a leader created automatically when I pull the label away from the object for final placement. Any help on this would be wonderful. Thanks

John,

Your Point Settings allow for the Full or Raw
description to be displayed, so you can set your marker text descriptions to
Full here. Next, you can toggle off the Point Number and Elevation marker text
and turn on Automatic Leaders on the Text tab of the Point Settings dialog
box.

Now you can drag the full descriptions away and get
a leader. These options are also available to points which are already inserted
into the drawing, so you do not have to apply these settings globally. Just
window your point objects on screen and right click and go to Display
Properties.

OK, so maybe I was being dense. I hadn't thought of using just the descriptions option rather than the label command. Thanks, I'll give it a go.

ok, that works, now a new issue. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to modify the appearance of the leaders that are created. I have looked in the program help and online help and can't find anything. I would like for it to create leaders that look like a leader we would create through the qleader or leader commands. i.e. with a filled arrowhead at the proper scale and the end of the leader at the left end of the text instead of in the middle above or below. Sure would appreciate any help out there.

well- simply put- you are out of luck-
you can adjust allmost everything about a point object- except the leader-
sad but true- it is hard coded into the object and can't be changed -
to quote laurie comerford from a post over in the ldd 2 group-

"The text is left addressed in a 'bounding box'. The leader is drawn to the
bounding box in the line to the centre of the box. That is hard coded into
the software and it would have to be a user wish from large numbers of users
to change it."

i wished for this to be changed the day after i realized it couldn't be-

you have to either learn to get along with it (adjust the scale on your
dwg's
so that it is not as cluttered and the points don't need to be adjusted) or
just accept that nothing is perfect, even thought it could be- and get on
with addressing the rest of the shortcomings of the program.

I have posted my wish with the powers that be on the wish list group. I know the response will be quick. I refuse to give up on such a simple, common sense concept. As far as the rest of the shortcomings....sigh. So little time. I guess we could still be working with AutoCAD 10 though.
