Importing pipes from XML

Using the pipes pulldown menu in the Civil Design Companion product, I created pipe runs which I then exported to the engineer, who designed the pipes in his software with the appropriate pipe sizes and flowlines and then he exported his XML file back to me. When I try to go to the "Project" pulldown menu and select "Import LandXML", the dialog box comes up and does not give me the option of importing a pipe run - only Land Desktop items like Parcels, Alignments, etc are available to import.

I checked the Help menu and it says that in order to import pipe runs, I must have Civil Design installed. It is installed, and I dont know where else to go to try and import the XML pipe runs.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Dan

Be glad! DON'T do this. I export XML to Intellisolve Stormsewer 2005.

XML DOES NOT SUPPORT PIPE OR NODE LABELS AS the Autodesk database allows duplicate labels. (I wish they would stop that) If you import, you lose all labeling functions.

I spend half my time in Stormsewer saying that pipe 36 is A12, etc. & praying I got it right.

I edit the runs manually from the printout.

Also Stormsewer has the nasty habit of spinning lines around a node. Who knows where your pipes would wind up?

Hey Ann;

Maybe it would help Dave Simeone (Civil 3D Manager) to know your opinion
since he is "in process" of converting LDT Pipes to C3D.
