File Size

I'm currently working on a project where I'm "xref"-ing an existing
conditions plan that was provided by a local surveyor. I've striped out all
the miscellaneous information that is not necessary and there is actually
very little linework left in the "xref"-ed drawing (all-in-all bout 700' of
roadwork.) I've purged the drawing and only very minimal layers remain. I
cannot get the file size below 5 megs. My first thought was the remaining
contours were bumping up the size of the file but there are only 3 contours
in the file. Just for a test I deleted all the contents of the drawing and
did another purge. Still, this file with no info in it is over 5 megs!!!!
Any ideas out there that can help me reduce the size of this file?

Thanks

Check the value of "isavepercent". Setting it to 0 means tolerating zero
wasted space and makes each save a full save.

Here are some ideas......
Search this forum and the basic Acad forum for "File Size", "Large
Drawings", "Bloat", etc.
Search this forum and the basic Acad forum for "Layer Filters"
If there were a large number of points inserted, the Dictionary that holds
the point data in the drawing can get really huge when individual point
display properties are set. If this is the case, I have a little routine to
remove this dictionary.
Specify which version you are using when posting for more specific help.
