Drainage swale

I am working on the regrading and rehabilitation of an existing taxiway with a drainage swale about 22 feet from the taxiway pavement edge. I have existing contours and the proposed profile for the taxiway. How can I show the drainage swale off the edge of the pavement. Would I do this in the template? How do I account for the varying depth of the swale along the length of the taxiway?

Hey kwmir;

Are you also grading the EG between the Taxiway and Swale, or will it stay
"natural"?

If this area between will remain in the state it enjoys currently, then I'm
thinking that the Swale should be one more Alignment with it's own Profile.

You're mentioning that it will have a varying depth from the Taxiway's
Profile leads me to this conclusion. Though you are able to Attach
Alignments and Attach Profiles separate from the Main Alignment to handle
this also.

The decision rests inside your answer to my 1st query.

In some spots I may have to regrade the EG between the pavement edge and swale. EG appears to be higher than the proposed template which includes the pavement, shoulder and the Taxiway Safety Area (TSA). The swale will be placed outside the TSA.

So how would I achieve what I am trying to achieve?

Also I am having trouble labeling the existing and proposed elevations on cross-sections. The software only gives me the elevations at the Centerline and I want it to generate the elevations at the pavement edge, shoulder and other locations on the cross-section.

Could you please let me know which version you have access to?

As long as it's LDT3 and later you're able to use Cross Sections>Road
Output>Draw 3D Polylines From Point Codes. That should get you the data
necessary for your needs.

I've used this scenario many times to get both the Finish Grade Surface and
the Excavation Surface.

FG gives me the Contours necessary for the Grading Plan; Excavation gives me
the Dirt Quantity to see how far I'm away from "balance".

I am using Land Desktop 2005 with the LDD Civil Module.

For some reason I am unable to get the software to attach the template which is a cross slope template to the proposed srurface. When I ask the softwareto plot the cross-sections if only plots two lines which it gets from the two different surfaces I created; one for the existing ground and the other for the proposed surface. But I can not get it to plot the tepmlate or label the elevations on the sections except for the elevation at the centerline. Plz. advice. Thank you in dvance.

It sounds to me that you haven't been through the Cross Sections>Edit Design
Control process up to this point. You'll find that the folks who put LDT/CD
together for our use attempted to place things on the Menus in a "order of
use" they imagined might be apparent to the User's.

So once you've set the Alignment Current;
Defined the Profile properly;
Defined the Templates;
Edited the Templates for further use with the Alignment's design parameters;
You'll then need to use Cross Sections>Design Control>Edit Design Control to
supply the design parameters you need for this Alignment.

They usually consist of the Template, Slopes and any Ditches the design
parameters may call for.

You'll also have the ability to utilize further features of Cross Sections
that are available for your use.

Such as the Topics you'll find here;

You might add that into Favorites/Bookmarks on your PC.
