Crosshair delay?

So, lately my LDD3 has been acting up. I'm on a P4 3.2 GHz system with 2GB of Ram, so I don't think it's a hardware problem. When I'm panning/zooming around in a drawing, drawing lines, stretching lines, etc. my crosshair movement starts to get kind of jerky/stop-start, like there's a bit of a delay when I first start moving my mouse. It's really frustrating. I've tried disabling AutoTracking and adjusting my AutoSnap settings, but that doesn't seem to affect it. Does anyone have any idea about what could be causing this?

Thanks

Hey jcowles;

Can I ask how old your Graphics Card is?

And it might help to share some of its specs also.

And the last time you defragged your hard drive was when?

The video card is an Nvidia Quadro NVC 280. Here are the specs:

It has been a little while since I defragged, so I'll run a defrag at lunch. Thanks for reminding me.

Oddly enough, I unchecked the "display hyperlink cursor and shortcut menu" setting under User Preferences, and that seems to have helped.

This is going to sound awfully obvious, but have you checked to see if maybe
SNAP is defaulting on for some reason? That would definately cause jerky
movement of the crosshair, and a delay in movement.

Ha... no, it's nothing like that. It seems like that hyperlink setting may have been the problem, but I believe that's set to on by default, and it doesn't seem to have caused problems in the past.

I have a wireless mouse with my setup. I happen to have that jerk sometimes also. Either the reciever cannot pick up the signal, or the batteries are getting low. That could also cause that to happen. Also when i type, it sometimes misses letters if there is something blocking the reciever. So check the reciever or install new batteries. That is one possibility.

I like the optical mice, but I hate the wireless mice.

That is unless their handling and performance has improved from about a year
ago. Like driving a Yugo after being the owner of a Porsche 911.

I think I lasted about three weeks to a month on the one back then.

But I don't have strong feelings about them or anything like that. 😉

I'm using a logitech mx700 wireless mouse. I love it. since I'm the IT guy, my desk had become quite cluttered with cables, peripherals, etc. so the wireless mouse has been really helpful.

The mouse works fine in every other application, so I don't think it has anything to do with LDD3 acting up.
